INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP PROGRAM…….A Bridge to Understanding

friendshipprogram

This volunteer program attempts to assign an international student to a local American family for the purpose of friendship and mutual understanding.

  1. It is a friendship program, not a home stay situation.
  2. Friendships are arranged through the Texas State International Office.
  3. Minimum time commitment: 2-3 hours or one social occasion per month.
  4. It is designed to help students become more acquainted and integrated with their new environment outside the campus through social interaction with an American family or single of the same gender.
  5. Activities might include meals, watching movies, birthday parties, visits to local points of interest, and other activities, including activities you may suggest.  Return the completed application to the International Office.

How to Participate in the International Friendship Program:

1. Contact Dr. Bob Seese at the Texas State International Office at 512-245-7966 or rs20@txstate.edu.

2. Complete and submit a Friendship Host Application. Download Application and Responsibilities

3. Attend a one-hour orientation designed to prepare you to be a friend to an international student and to answer questions you may have.
